First day of last experiment

Today marks the beginning of the end. Yesterday we were trying to start the first of five days of trials but when exposing the snails to double check for cercaria, someone picked the wrong snails. This lead to us having to move the trial back another day. After this happened, I realized I need to have more control over the process so now I'm going to make sure I'm present for every stage of the trials in order to make sure the experiment goes the way I want it to. Right now we have one large or one medium prawn per tank and we are going to put 10 Bulinus snails in every tank, some of which may be infected by the parasite. This will be run over the course of the week until Saturday now; it was supposed to be Friday. Yesterday, it was presentation day and I did a dry run of some of the material I want to present at my final presentation which will be done in front of the entire department on Tuesday the 25th. I realized I can do a few more stat analysis on some of the data, including deaths over time of the prawns, regarding the feed or no-feed factor. My final presentation will be uploaded to the blog once everything is all set!

This week should be quite a bit less work, compared to the ninety hours I put in last week. Hopefully I'll be able to arrive at nine everyday and leave by around 2 or 3. This will hopefully allow me to run once again which I will touch on in a second. The hours last week killed me and it made me realize what kind of work I want to do in the future. I want to be able to have somewhat control over my hours, especially when before I commit to being able to train while I am here. Training while I have been here has been nonetheless but challenging and inconsistent. The hours that I thought I would have at the start of this project have been completely false. Getting into the lab before dawn and leaving while its pitch-black outside has led to unsafe running conditions; this may now carry over to a less than ideal base for entering cross country season. Hopefully will the lesser hours this week I'll be set to start training. I'll end with this, IT'S SUNY G BELIEVE SEASON BABY
