Today was my first day working in the field. The goal by the end of the day was to accustom ourselves in the field, get out economic survey out to the teachers who will be assisting with the administration as well as figure out where we are getting our prawns from for the laboratory study. Things were smooth sailing this morning as we left at around 6am. We went to our first prawn site to se if we can get prawns but we came to realize that if we took them with us, they would not make it back to Noguchi by the end of the day. We then set off for the village; here is when our first car problems occurred and the brakes of the car blew on us. We traded cars with the mechanic and made it to Tomefa. Things went well in Tomefa, also seeing if we would be able to grab snails from the reservoir for the lab as well; good thing is that the snails are easy to find in the Water! Anyways, as we were about to leave, the car battery died and we were stranded for about an hour when the awesome mechanic came back to switch cars. We got both cars working, drive the 2 hours back to campus then I took care of some stuff on the survey they needed to be addressed. The rest of the day consisted on watching family guy to get some rest to work before I work on my literature review tomorrow!
